![]() ![]() When a QuickMod is installed into an instance, MultiMC will get the mod’s download link, determine what other mods that mod requires, and then go through a download process for everything it needs to downloaded. Once the QuickMod is added to MultiMC, it can be installed into any instance via the “Install” button in the mod edit dialog. To install a QuickMod, you simply add it into MultiMC via its URL, or a file. QuickMods are small text files which contain information about a mod such as its name, description, and where to download it. There are two parts to them, the JSON specification (available here) and the implementation in MultiMC 5. But it doesn’t stop there, sometime in December last year I started working on a feature I call QuickMods. Then came Forge and other great stuff to ease the installation, as well as MultiCraft (the predecessor of MultiMC), making installation of mods even easier. Once upon a time, when installing mods, you had to mess with the Minecraft jar file. If you’re too lazy to read, here is a video of Forkk demonstrating the installation of a bunch of mods using the QuickMod system: QuickMods Everything here is subject to change and we do not have an ETA for how long it will take to finish. It is quite buggy, but we’re working on smoothing it out. The system is called QuickMod, and today we’re excited to finally be able to show off an early proof of concept.īefore you read further, please keep in mind that this is still in early development. ![]() For a while, one of our developers, Jan ( has been working on a system for easily downloading and installing mods. This means people must take the time to go through the source code and remove all references to "MultiMC", including but not limited to the project icon and the title of windows, (no MultiMC-fork in the title).Īpache covers reasonable use for the name - a mention of the project's origins in the About dialog and the license is acceptable. Part of the reason for using the Apache license is we don't want people using the "MultiMC" name when redistributing the project. We keep MultiMC open source because we think it's important to be able to see the source code for a project like this, and we do so using the Apache license. Keep lists (of arguments, parameters, initializators.) as lists, not paragraphs.Indent with 4 space unless it's in a submodule. If you want to build MultiMC yourself, check BUILD.md for build instructions. If you want to contribute, either talk to us on Discord, IRC(/#MultiMC) or pick up some item from the github issues workflowy - there is always plenty of ideas around. We can do more, with less, on worse hardware and leave more resources for the game while keeping the launcher running and providing extra features. This might seem odd in the Minecraft community, but allows using 25MB of RAM, where other tools use an excessive amount of resources for no reason. The project uses C++ and Qt5 as the language and base framework. Here are the current features of MultiMC. It also allows you to easily install and remove mods by simply dragging and dropping. MultiMC is a custom launcher for Minecraft that allows you to easily manage multiple installations of Minecraft at once.
